I admire this drawing by our Gold member Laura Hardie for its simplicity, accuracy, character, textures, rich and vibrant colouring... the list goes on. Laura has produced a great piece and her attention to detail gives life while not intruding on the viewing pleasure. It adheres to my favourite advice by Pierre Parisien: "Don't show me that what you are doing is difficult".

Lin Patterson nabbed by Police!
Our gold member Lin Patterson tells me...
"I got the police commission! I am due to go out with the dog section for a day to take the photos .. It is a large, and I mean large, wall mounted canvas they want with a painted montage of the dogs working in various aspects with the force's badge painted in the centre...I cant wait!"

Our Gold member John Duffy has recently written and published a book illustrating the bridges across the River Slaney in Ireland. John follows the river from its source at Lugnaquillia, in County Wicklow, to the estuary in County Wexford, illustrating each bridge in detailed graphite pencil drawings.
While the book concentrates on the many bridges, it is full of interesting anecdotes and stories; and it helpfully gives the true meanings behind the Anglicised original place names. The final chapters give general information on such diverse subjects as Rod Fishing and The River Gods of Edward Smyth. Our Gold member Giles Illsley reports the theft of his graphite drawing "Big Cat Nap" while it was being exhibited at Deal Library in Kent, UK. Any information concerning it whereabouts would be greatly appreciated.
