Afternoon Tea by
Marsha Robinett
One of my best friends is from England. She still has her accent and is just wonderful to listen to. When you visit her home you are always offered "tea." I chose this with her in mind...and for me, because I just love drawing glass.
The shadows and reflections are fantastic. The more you look, the more you see. The shadows of the cup and saucer on the table and the light they throw back into the tea, the shadow of the tea bag on the left side of the cup, the small flakes of tea leaves that have floated to the top of the tea bag, the bubbles along the edge of the cup, the staple on the bag, and the way the string moves down the side of the cup into the saucer and the tiny tag on the end...and not to be ignored, the handle on the cup is poised, ready for you to take a sip! It's amazing how something so simple as a cup of tea can be so multi-faceted.
