I was approached to submit a piece for the HG Wells Festival in Sandgate, so after researching his background and reading some of his books I came up with this drawing.

It shows Wells in silhouette against a starscape background, with a view of Sandgate seafront in the foreground. Wells lived and wrote at Spade House in Sandgate. With this in mind I've tried to evoke the far reaches of Wells' imagination while still retaining his sense of place in the real world.
