Buy a Crab, Sir? by
Susan Goodall
The lady in this picture is my great-great-grandmother Hannah Ward. She was a fishmonger in Whitby, and was photographed several times by the victorian photographer Frank-meadow Sutcliffe, so I have photos of her and her mother when she was in her twenties.
Doing my family history I found out she had been married twice, so on earlier photos she is known as Hannah Hall and my great-great-great-Gran was Hannah Gildroy.
I like to work from old photos of my family. Perhaps you have an old photo that would make a great family heirloom.
Do you have a photo that is in a poor condition but is possible to work from? Why not consider a special commissioned picture to treasure.
